WA Branch Executive

Simone Mayne – President
After spending 9 years working in the dental industry as a dental nurse & practice manager, Simone decided to study dental hygiene. She graduated from Curtin University in 2000 with an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene. Since completing her studies Simone has worked mainly in private general practices within Perth. She has also spent some time lecturing to the DCA students at OCWHA.
Currently she shares her work load between private general practice and a specialist orthodontic practice, utilising all aspects of her skills. Simone is interested in infection control and is a member of the WA infection control association. She looks forward to promoting the DHAA within WA.
Stefanie Pearce – Treasurer & A/g Secretary
Stefanie Pearce started her career as a dental assistant in 1997, working for a private specialist prosthodontics practice in Perth. After 18 months of work Stefanie commenced her Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene at Curtin University (WA). After graduation she retuned to the specialist practice on a part time basis and joined another general private practice also on a part time basis.
Through her wide range of duties, her special interests are in the treatment and prevention of periodontal disease and maintaining oral health. Stefanie looks forward to working together with the other committee members within the association.
Emily See – Vice President
In 1985 Emily migrated to Christmas Island, and in 1986 she starting working as a Dental Chairside Assistant. She graduated in Dental Hygiene in 2004, and enjoys working with perio patients. As well as being a mother of 3, Emily currently works at Booragoon Dental Clinic and Advanced Smiles Dental Care in Willeton.
Emily is also a member of the Australian Society of Periodontology and The International Federation of Dental Hygienists. She volunteers her free time at DHAA WA branch and is Secretary to Bodhi Temple in Cannington.
Selina Lai – Web Manager
Selina completed her Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene through Curtin University (WA) in 2004. She then started working part-time as a hygienist in both private general practice and specialised orthodontic practice, all the while pursuing her Bachelor of Arts & Commerce Degree.
She currently spends her time working in general practice and volunteering her time to the DHAA WA branch.
Natasha Hunt – Newsletter Editor
Natasha Hunt is originally from New Zealand, but grew up in Perth until age five. She has 12 years experience in general dental practice. She gained Honours with Distinction in the Diploma in Dental Hygiene at The University of Otago, then practiced three years in Auckland before moving back to Perth in late 2007.
Natasha is currently working as a locum Hygienist through Contact Point Dental, and is enjoying seeing the diversity of dental practice in Perth. Her spare time is spent cycling and swimming, which she admits is probably to work off all the great local cuisine she seeks out when time permits! Please feel free to say hi to Natasha if you see her at a meeting or event, she would love to meet you!
Cherie Vojkovic – PD Committee
Cherie Vojkovic started her dental career by completing her Dental Clinic Assisting certificate in 2001. By 2003 she had completed her Associate Degee in Dental Hygiene. After working as a hygienist for some years in general practice and a year spent travelling, Cherie now enjoys working at a periodontal surgery in West Perth where she has been practising for 3 years.
Deborah Tyler – National Councillor
After 7 years as a Dental Assisting, two former careers, and vowing never to study again, Deborah found herself at Curtin University and graduated as a Hygienist in mid 2006. She now works in a General Private Practice, and is enjoying the variety this provides and in particular, maintaining oral health.
She has 2 grown-up children, enjoys travel, home and walking the dogs, and the challenge of volunteering for DHAA.
Jenny Soo – PD Committee
Jenny completed her studies in dental hygiene at Curtin University of Technology in mid-2008. Having worked previously in a totally different field she finds working with patients a big change and is especially interested in the preventive approach to oral health management. She currently works at a general practice and enjoys her part-time job.
Sherryn Cullen – Secretary
Aleisha Gin – Membership Officer
Aleisha Gin has been working in the dental industry since 2004. She worked as a receptionist in a busy Melbourne practice before moving to Perth to study at Curtin University. After graduating in 2008 from the Associate Degree of Dental Hygiene (Honours), Aleisha began and continues to work at general practices in Leederville and Morley. Aleisha enjoys travelling and hopes to combine this passion with her work in the near future.
